Teachers have concern about making mathematics optional subject in Plus 2 program:
Teachers have shown concerns over government’s decision to make mathematics an optional subject in Class 11 and 12. They stated that it would impede the growth of student’s education on a long run. When Minister of education, science and technology Giriraj Mani announced a single track curriculum from Grade 9-12 excluding Mathematics, Assistant professor in mathematics at Kathmandu University Binod Prasad Pant said maths was a must in a school’s curriculum. Likewise Kedar Nath Uprety said to pass entrace tests for Agriculture, Forestry and Computer science and mathematics is very crucial making it optional was closing doors to enter into these programs.
