Overview of BSW Colleges

Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) is a program that provides a generalist view and studies of social works performed by various national and international social organizations for the welfare of society. It explains how to provide social services to individual, families and communities. It also provides hands-on learning opportunities with real field work assignments to collect and analyze data of topics like human behavior, cultural diversity, psychology, policies and learn skills and test their knowledge according to education plan of their curriculum of the concerned Universities.

TU affiliated BSW Colleges in Nepal

There are about 20 BSW Colleges in Nepal offering this program spanning over the duration of 4 years in affiliation with Tribhuvan University under the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. To be eligible to study BSW courses in these colleges, one must appear for the entrance exam conducted by TU.

Eligibility Criteria

The BSW colleges only accept students who pass the entrance examination. If you clear the admission test you are eligible to study the BSW course in Nepal. The criteria to appear for the exam is below:

  • Applicants should have completed their intermediate or equivalent level of education from any stream.
  • They should have obtained a minimum grade of 'D+' in each subject during their 10+2 level

Fee Structure

The fee structure for studying the course in BSW colleges varies depending upon the type of college. Private institutions charge more in comparison to public campuses.

Having said that, the price is very affordable. The approximate cost in government-funded colleges ranges from 2-3 lakhs while it is about 3-6 lakhs in private.

Scholarships

BSW colleges in Nepal must provide scholarships as per the government rules and university policies. Capable students and those from specific backgrounds get scholarships, either general or quota-based, on the basis of merit list.

KU affiliated BSW Colleges in Nepal

Bachelor of Arts in Social Work program of Kathmandu University is four year program of Kathmandu University with total credit of 90 hours of study. The program is offered by 3 colleges within Kathmandu Valley.
