Q) HOW DID THE IDEA OF SELLING PRODUCT ONLINE DEVELOP? WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND IT?

The very idea of selling vegetables originated when we were working late hours. The founder of the company came up with the idea when he was told to bring vegetables for the evening. It was already late and when he went to the market to get fresh vegetables, he could find none. That’s when the idea to deliver fresh fruits and vegetables through online came up to his mind, which resulted in the birth of the company MetroTarkari on Dec 2012.

The booming e-commerce in the global level and its potential market in Nepal along with the chance to save time and energy of people while buying fruits and vegetables in the market became a core inspiration behind the establishment of the company.

 

Q) HOW WILL THE BUYERS BENEFIT BY BUYING AT METROTARKARI COIMPARED WITH LOCAL MARKET?

In the present scenario, consumers have the only option to go and shop for vegetables and groceries in the local market. The increasing pollution, lack of time and no trendy shopping in the local market have become a major problem for the buyers. Metro Tarkari helps the buyers to eliminate these problems by providing fresh vegetables and fruits to the buyers at reasonable price through free delivery service within Kathmandu valley. The availability of more than 80 regular vegetables in regular basis and a fixed rate to every customer within and outside Nepal, are also the benefits which the buyers can enjoy through MetroTarkari.

 

Q) DO YOU HAVE ANY OFFERS OR PACKAGES IN YOUR MARKETING SCHEME?

Nepal is a culturally diversified country. There are various festivals and occasions which the Nepali people can celebrate. And Nepalese often spent more during these times on foods. MetroTarkari provides specially packaged fruits and vegetables coinciding with the festival with offers and discounts. We also provide family packages on weekly/daily basis to our consumers looking at their consumption pattern.

 

Q) HOW QUICK IS THE DELIVERY PROCESS? HOW INNOVATIVE IS THE SELLING STRATEGY?

Currently, we provide delivery to our customers in the morning (5-9 am) and evening (4-7 pm). We are planning to expedite our delivery time to 2 hours in the near future.

 

Q) ARE YOU PLANNING TO OPEN ANY OTHER ONLINE SHOPPING CHAIN BESIDES THIS?

No. Presently, we have a good Market share in the Nepalese fruits and vegetables market. Rather than opening up other online shopping chain, we are focusing on increasing the market share and making the availability of more products in our site. Expansion is the sole objective of the company in this time.
