MBBS College in Nepal

In the Southeast region, MBBS program are highly recommended in India and Nepal. In Nepal MBBS is provided by Kathmandu University, Tribhuvan University, B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Science, and Patan Academy. The duration of this program is of four and a half years period with one extra year of rotating internship. The full form of MBBS program is Bachelor of Medicine or Bachelor of Surgery. This program opens the door to become a doctor, surgeon or medical practitioners.

MBBS under Tribhuvan University

Tribhuvan University started MBBS in 1978. Students who have completed Plus 2 in Science under Biology group or Plus 2 equivalent with English, Physics, Biology and Chemistry as main subjects can join the MBBS program. Marks must not be less than 50 percent in Physics, Chemistry and Biology. They must also give the entrance exam conducted by TU, Institute of Medicine, and should qualify for that particular academic year. International students should also appear in the entrance test conducted by IOM and should qualify for that year. Selection for MBBS program will be on merit basis and toppers will be nominated for scholarships from the Ministry of Education. Fee structures are NRs. 4,023,250 inside the valley and NRs. 4,436,025 for outside valley.

MBBS under Kathmandu University

Kathmandu University started the MBBS program under their academic school called Kathmandu University School of Medical Sciences in collaboration with Dhulikhel hospital. Students must have completed Plus 2 or PCL with minimum 2.4 GPA with C+ Marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology separately, and minimum C in all other subjects. Or, they should complete a Bachelor of Science from any other University with subjects like Physics, Chemistry and Biology and at least one other prescribed science subject. Students who have completed course equivalent to Plus 2 Science Biology group with Physics, Chemistry, Biology as main subjects after certificate level in health science from Dhulikhel Medical Institute, having not less than 50 percent marks in aggregate can also apply for MBBS. Selection will be based on entrance results; the entrance for MBBS program will consist of 100 marks in total. Total fees structure inside the valley is NRs. 4,023,250 and outside valley NRs. 4,436,025.

MBBS under B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Science

BPKIHS also provides MBBS program where candidates applying should have passed Plus 2 exam or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology with 50 percent marks at least in all subjects and their total aggregates. The applicants must be at least 17 years of age as on the date of entrance test in order to be eligible to apply for the MBBS program. This is a four and half years program with one years of rotating internship. Entrance will consist of 200 marks of multiple choice questions. Selection for the program will be made on merit basis. Fee structure of the students who received scholarship is NRs. 8 Lakhs and for partial scholarship holders, the fee is about 38.5 lakh. Total number of seats available are 100, including both scholarship seats and paying seats.

MBBS under Patan Academy

Patan Academy runs MBBS program which is of five years plus one year of internship. This institute is a non-profit tertiary academic institution that has had a School of Medicine to teach prospective doctors since 2010. To be eligible, applicants must have completed Plus 2 with Science or Health Science under general medicine, medical lab technology, ophthalmic science, dental science, and pharmacy backgrounds; and should pass PCB group with a minimum 50 percent in each subject and in aggregate. Health Science background students must have valid level 2 (kha) registration from Nepal Health Profession Council and PCL students should have registered with Nepal Pharmacy Council. Applicants must have completed 17 years of age and should not have exceeded 40 years at time of submission of application. Entrance test will be based on multiple choice questions on Physics, Chemistry, and Biology; and Mental Agility test with Situational Judgement tests. Students securing below 50 percent will be considered failed and below 2 standard deviation in aptitude test will also be marked as failed. Selection will be based on the entrance result and also structured admission OSCEs interview. Total fee of MBBS program is NRs. 35 lakhs whereas fee for partial scholarship is 18 lakhs and for collaborative scholarship it is about 24 lakhs.
