Agriculture College in Nepal

Nepal is an agriculture-based country. The topography, climatic conditions, fertile lands, and the dexterity of farmers are rewarded by lush harvests of crops, seasonal vegetables, and fruits. In order to promote horticulture and animal husbandry as a profession among the younger generation, there are many agriculture colleges in Nepal that provide academic programs related to that field.

It started with an initiative of the Institute of Agriculture and Animal Science (IASS) to train junior assistants. The first academic program was launched in the intermediate level with the BSc Agriculture program. After that Tribhuvan University launched a similar education program at Pulchowk and its constituent colleges - Rampur Campus, Lamjung Campus, Paklihawa Campus, and Gauradaha Campus.

In the basic level, there are technical and Diploma programs of one year and three years offered by CTEVT. Eligibility criteria for CTEVT college:

Should have at least a C grade in SEE Exams in any two subjects from Compulsory Math, Compulsory Science, and Compulsory English and D+ in other subjects.

Eligibility criteria for Bachelor program in Agriculture college:

Should have passed Plus2/ISc with 50 percent marks and have studied English, Chemistry, and Biology with full marks of 100 each and secure 50 percent marks in the entrance exam of the concerned University.

Eligibility criteria for Master program in Agriculture college:

To study Master program in Agriculture the person should have passed the BSc Ag in the second division and an entrance exam based on science knowledge to become eligible for this program from universities in Nepal.

IAAS is an autonomous academic center of Tribhuvan University.
